     Nov. 23, 1917 -

     A lowery North Day –

     Morning N.W. horizon is white  a spitting snow –

     Noon – clouds in layers from the North; the North horizon is intensely white – it seems strongest around house corners.  (sketch)

     Trees are huge, black scrawny hideous things –

     A wonderful lighting effect – A cold chaste light on houses from North, west sides are slightly darker – no little [not decipherable]

     The town bristles with perpendicular lines.
