Agnes Robertson (1911- 2001)

Bizarre, humorous characters populate the highly imaginative, surreal world of Agnes Robertson. She didn’t take up painting until the age of 48, first studying with Arnold Blanch at summer sessions of the New York Art Students League held in Woodstock. Later, Robertson studied painting with Virginia Cuthbert and Sheldon Berlyn at the University at Buffalo. In the spirit of William Holbrook Beard, she often painted amusing animals and human-animal hybrids that offer a fresh perspective on life’s experiences.
