MR. BURCHFIELD COMMENTS: “I have always been impressed with the Appalachian Hill Country. In my painting the time is early evening just after a summer thunder shower. The sky is over-cast with layers of cloud that seem to compliment the rolling hills below; and from deep ravines and valleys fragments of mist and fog arise like specters to join the clouds above.”
