Raphael Beck (1858-1947)

Abram Raphael Beck, who later dropped his first name, had studios in Lockport and in the Calumet Building on West Chippewa Street in Buffalo. His oil paintings included Barbizon style landscapes, seascapes and portraits. Beck designed the logo for the Pan-American Exposition in 1901. He painted murals for theaters, schools, churches, and other public buildings in Buffalo, Lockport, Niagara Falls and Rochester. On many occasions he also traveled and painted in Europe.
