a part of the free M&T Second Friday event series at the Art Center
Jan 12, 2024, 4:30 pm — 11:00 pm
Buffalo, NY — The Burchfield Penney Art Center's beloved community art party, Stay Gold, returns on January 12th, 2024, 4:30 – 11:00 pm! This one-night celebration and immersive arts experience – part of the M&T Second Friday event series, will feature visual and performance art, dance, music, and whimsical creativity throughout the building. Thanks to the generous support of M&T Bank, admission is free.
"The arts have the unique power to inspire creativity, foster cultural understanding, and strengthen communities. Few events truly capture this impact like Stay Gold at the Burchfield Penney Art Center," said Francesco Lagutaine, M&T Bank Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and a Burchfield Penney Development Committee member. "With free admission for all, Stay Gold reinforces our shared commitment to expanding access to the arts — providing a platform for regional artists and empowering our community to explore their creativity. M&T Bank is honored to help make this event possible."
The community is invited to explore pop-up art installations created by talented local artists, especially for the event, and ongoing gallery exhibitions at the Burchfield Penney. Live art and music performances will activate different spaces throughout the evening, along with interactive DJ and dance sets! Visitors of all ages are encouraged to join the hands-on art-making fun in the Useum™ Studio.
The latest installment of The Front Yard Film Screening Series, featuring a range of short films by Laura Kraning, will also kick off during Stay Gold 2024. The series is guest-curated by Dorothea Braemer and Meg Knowles and highlights the work of Western New York media artists. Presentations will begin after dark each night, projected on the Elmwood Avenue façade of the Art Center, and will run for three months.
Roux Soup Bar and Café will be open late and serve delicious soups, salads, and sandwiches. The cash-only pop-up bar will serve soft drinks, beer, and wine in the second-floor reception space. Masks are optional but encouraged.
M&T Bank is a longstanding supporter of the Burchfield Penney Arts Center and a steadfast advocate for local arts communities. The ongoing M&T Second Fridays program provides free admission to the Burchfield Penney on the second Friday of every month.
