Dusk – Snow Gloom; houses look startled at snow, tree bases deep black & vibrate; running children jet black –
Blizzard out of S.E. turns to rain, tearing white clouds; straight rain; black houses with yellow eyes; rain freezes on trees; creek & clatter of ice-coated branches in the wind –
More rain takes away ice; S.W. wind comes; bitterly cold; dawn comes with clear sky & roaring wind, creak of wagon wheels
