A sun-dazzled morning. Dripping of lengthening icicles.
P.M. To Bentleys & Farqhuars - Clear blue & green sky - white dappled vivid blue streaming over yellow snow from tree bases -
The fields are wide in the early afternoon sunlight - they seem endless.
At Trough where the windblown ripples reflected the sunlight on the stream-bed in endless streamers of fire - Through hollow wherein front the stream was partly covered with a thin layer of ice, free from water woven with curious frost designs or smooth flowing lines - in places the tinkle of the stream and the wind sawing through a leafy maple; where tree branches dipped balls of sparkling ice up and down in the black water; where nut-hatches amazingly busy with odd cries crept up and down the sunlit trees; where nearby a pair of cardinals pleased the eye; where a downy raps with a business-like precision in the top of a dead tree.
To Beech Grove where there is endless wonderful music in the yellow leaves.
Home with difficulty against the streaming sunshine.
