A.M. – Got to work on the dismounting of the 1917 “In a September Meadow” which I added to, preparing to make it large. “Sparrow-hawk” picture (Braasch disappointed because the drawing for this has been sold in N.Y. wants to buy the watercolor. I made a careful tracing of the whole picture, then sawed it up to get at the 1917 portion. I thought I might have to immerse it in water a long time, and hated the thought of it – Fortunately I had backed it with detail paper (to bring it up to the thickness of the added paper) and was able to remove it with a film of the detail paper remaining to it.
P.M. B+I for a drive eastward to Wyoming Village.
An unusually warm day – very beautiful (Out Clinton to 239 – thence to 20 at Alden – 20 to the Wyoming Village road then straight south to the Village.)
Visited the cemetery as usual; and it was as beautiful as always – a quiet “haven” high up, overlooking the Oatka Valley to the south – We felt that this was a pilgrimage we should make at least once every year.
We took Dale-Attica Road home – We looked for elderberries in the usual spot, but no sign of any. At a roadside cemetery we found myrtle in bloom.
