Finish re-mounting of “Black Walnut”
Days of confusion; inability to start painting.
Evening letter from F.R. [Frank Rehn] in reply to my request for money. The “Winter Rain from the East” sold to a lady from Pittsburgh for $750.00. He told me that the Scheafers were in on the first day of the Mattson [Henry E. Mattson] show and bought his, “Toll of the Sea” – largely due, he insisted, because of the good time I had given them on the evening we were out to see them! The real point was, that F + I had both exerted [word unintelligible] to be nice to them.
