Call from Porterfield asking me to intercede for a young artist who wishes to get into my class at the Institute. Call D. Pratt who already knows about [it]. Says class is now 25 in number.
P.M. a sketch outdoors to “ready” myself for Sunday’s task. Asked B to come out & “kibitz” so as to “harden” me. My first attempt failed – I tried to make a composition out of the sunflower and ash tree & church. So I switched to the view of the sunflower & Albarella's house, which was better from the start. B came out once again, but she liked the start so much she said she would not come again for fear of spoiling it. All afternoon on it – as usual it seemed worthless.
Evening packing.
