A mild partially cloudy day –
a.m. In studio cleaning frame for “Backyard in Late Winter”, putting picture in it, and with the aid of Bertha hanging it in the studio. By this time it was time for us to do our food shopping
Then we went to Chestnut Lodge for lunch – Pot Roast with potato pancakes (which both were delicious) – It was so mild I needed neither coat nor hat –
P.M. – In studio, building some shelves along the east wall for “current notes” which are always cluttering the chairs here – The chairs are always supposed to be “temporary” – but I realize now that they are a permanent fixture, and the shelves will not only take up less room but hold much more material.
Likewise, I am going to build a table to take the place of the card table I always have by my rocking-chair. It will have two shelves underneath to catch all sorts of notes – I realized the space under the folding table top is wasted and might as well be utilized
Today in the mail – the “Skira” publication of “Chinese Painting (Treasures of Asia, Vol. I-) – a ,magnificent book that fills me with joy – the wonders of the Chinese artists imagination especially (to me) the landscapes are staggering.
