(Friday) – lovely and warm. – working on frames and (P.M.) going over my wall-paper samples for Mr. Schenk. I had forgotten so many of these designs! –
We have been worried lately because we have not heard from Art in over a month especially since [no one] else, to whom he customarily writes, has heard either. So today I wrote a letter to his Commanding Officer. It is harder on his mother than on me – she is so unhappy from worrying, altho I tell her if anything serious were wrong we would be notified. Still, one has to wonder.
Peggy down for the day – what a winsome little darling!
Valpo has been on my mind lately – I had hoped they would buy a picture from this show – but it seems all they want is for me to come there as artist in residence – and that is what I wish to avoid if possible.
Letter (Oct. 20) – from F.R. – he thought the two water-colors lovely. He is still in the throes of remodelling the gallery, which he says will be about half the size of what it was. He wants me to have a show this winter.
