Mounting the Niagara St. Picture – Studying the “New-Fallen” leaves. The latter suggested studies needed of witch-hazel bushes – So B & I to Sharp St. where a week or so ago I had seen a group of very fine ones. – A fine day to be out – While I sketched B walked up & down the road. She came back with some apples. Then to Colden & to the woods east of there. Late afternoon – the quietness. Most of the leaves down, dried & pale yellow brown but here & there some glowing red ones. – A puff of wind scattered the leaves along the surface and they caught the sunlight with little haloes around them. Calls. Of Blue jays. Evening B & I walk to store – the air is cold & feels like a frost.
