October 13 – Saturday –
Colder, but clear and sunny all day –
a.m. – B+I food shopping, while Peggy ironed and straightened the house.
On the way home we stopped at Climie’s, and ordered two pizza pies - for lunch.
When we had lunch, we found we were unable to eat two pizzas, so we decided to save one for supper.
In studio – remounting two of the 1917 water-colors then got to work on the 1922 drawing in water-color of a tree in late autumn, finishing out the tree (which was incomplete) and putting newly fallen leaves on the ground.
After that I made a list of all the smaller pictures I am sending to the gallery.
Shortly after I lay down to rest, I heard a robin singing just as buoyantly as in the spring (the first I ever heard one sing at this time of year – I have heard them recently giving their alarm and scolding calls) –
For the past several days song-sparrows have been singing.
Evening – Mart over to pick up Peggy – we persuaded her to stay and talk awhile.
Evening music – the Haffner Serenade of Mozart –
