October 6, Sunday
At church Rev. Neeb said a prayer had been requested for George Pratt who is critically ill in his home, (and I realized with a shock that I had promised several weeks ago to call on him – so wrapped up am I in my own affairs of painting – “I was ill and he visited me not.” )
After church to West Valley for dinner –
One of the most beautiful sights now is a field of dried grass, with clusters or rich purple asters –
A glorious October day – the epitome of October warm and sunny (in the 70’s) with just a slight breeze at times –
We concluded that the most satisfying of all fall colors are orange yellows, oranges, and all variations of these with warm tans and browns. The red of sumacs and swamp maples are unendurable for long – the only red that does not fall is one tinged with orange or better warm brown (such as some oaks) Bedtime music – concertos by Vivaldi
