Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), Dusty Road in July, 1952-58; watercolor and charcoal on paper laid down on board, 35 x 50 inches; Image from the Burchfield Penney Art Center Archives.
About noon, I got dressed & we went over to the Southgate Plaza- to Bank & to P.O, & then to “Your Host” for lunch. When I came out I said I felt like driving and so I did- It was as if I had not been away from it for 11 months- To markets & then home.
In studio, working on the Genesee Rd. Picture which I think I shall call “Dusty Road in July”-
I was about to get out the “Farmhouse & Two Pines” picture when a coughing spasm started which ended activity for the day-
Dark & raining heavily at late P.M.
