To bring out an idea powerfully the sensation must be highly conventionalized. Thus if plants appear grotesque, everything which is not grotesque must be omitted & the grotesqueness itself must be exaggerated
Or if a scene expresses grace, grace must be the keynote. The color brilliant, it all must be vivid –
