Truth is, nothing is going away…everything stays, the same or in slightly different form, but it still stays, its around us. – Josef Bajus
This Friday September 9, 530-730pm at the Burchfield Penney Art Center as part of the M&T Second Friday programming, Jozef Bajus, a local sculptor and fiber artist, will be exhibiting a body of work titled, Nothing is Going Away. Bajus frequently uses discarded materials or industrial remnants to compose objects that question our environmental responsibility towards the earth and our successors. His eloquent style of forming compositions provides the viewer with intricate relationships of form, color and line that will have you contemplating where one thing ends and the other begins.
Jozef Bajus is the recipient of the 2016 Langley Kenzie Award, which is gifted to one outstanding artist from the Art in Craft Media biennial, which took place at the Burchfield last fall, with a solo show in honor of Ms. Kenzie, an artist who was dedicated to her craft. On Friday, in addition to this show opening, there will be two other exhibits on view, live music by James Newhouse, a drop in art making workshop that is open to children of all ages, and later in the evening a lecture on Charles Burchfield and The Sunflower Sutra. These events are free and open to the public.
