Chilly, dark raining most of the day —
However last night I had made up my mind to abandon the bouquet painting in the summer-house.
So we decided to go to Buffalo shopping — Lunch at A.M. & A’s —
P.M. — In studio working on the “White wings of September” — Interrupted twice: first the upholsterers delivered my chair — second, a visit from Mr. & Mrs. Abbott (of Java Village) from whom many years ago we used to buy raspberries for canning — With them they brought a friend (Mrs. Tebell) from Arcade — (“who is also an artist”) — Pleasant people.
Delivered today — a recital of various operatic arias by Nicolai Ghiaurov — (attracted to it by reason of the opening number “Song of the Viking Guest from Sadko — (which is wonderfully, powerfully done) — A wonderful voice, seemingly the equal of Chaliapin or Christov and with better reproduction
