Aug. 16 – Sat.
Dark – cloudy – heavy rains “off and on” all day. About noon to airport plaza to get a few things at Loblaws. Terrific congestion – The whole trip took a full hour. (The heavy-set woman who tried to “crash” the line.) –
When I came out I thought my car had been stolen – I knew exactly where I had parked it on the line – and not a sign of it – and then I remembered with unspeakable relief, that it was in the next lane.
Late P.M. – pick up Mart & Hank & to Celia Schatz. She had intended having a picnic lunch, but of course that was out. She had a good lunch. Hamburger, Canadian cheese, hot potato salad, tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs with a mayonnaise sauce – The only trouble was that she erred toward lavishness – there was too much to drink and eat. Later she served a dessert with coffee – jelly & cake, Mrs. Fisher & Wilbur Porterfield there.
Home & too keyed up to sleep.
