To 8:30 service—Communion Rev. Arthur Kleindienst in Rev. Neeb’s place. The reading of St. Paul’s confession of his weaknesses (the good that I would do, I do not, and the evil I would not do, that I do) never seemed so apt and revealing of the dual nature of man.
After church for drive—out Bowen to Blood road & thence to Porterville & the Liberia Rd to Three Road—At Williston get cheese—extra piece for Mart & Hank’s anniversary which is today. To drugstore to get a few salted nuts & a card—then drove over to present them—Only Mart there—Hank helping his folks.
A quiet day—reading a condensation of Daphne Du Maurier’s “My Cousin Rachel” an absorbing mystery but irritating in the extreme—
Late P.M.—A ride out in search of fruit—which we eventually got at the Trans-Sen market (particularly the big blue-berries from New Jersey)—after first going to Orchard Park.
After supper—watering the flowers -
