What I need most of all now is a period of complete solitude in which I can meditate at length – It is essential to my being – yet it is denied me – It is a growing belief with me that the artistic soul can be permanently warped by continued denials made it, of its most vital necessities – We give the tree air, light rain, and other nourishment, yet it is never night when it is dependent of these.
A calm violet-hazed day.
