July 25 – Monday
Another thunderstorm in the night.
First light of dawn at 3:00.
a.m. drove to “Minnesota Point” – sand-dunes – finding the wild sweet peas of my childhood.
Evening dinner with the Millers. We liked Mrs. M at once. She is of Finnish decent & a great admirer of Sibelius. Their apartment unique + attractive (High + pointed gable with painted beams, modern furniture. Mrs. M served a delicious Swiss steak. Afterwards music on a player that Dr. Miller assembled himself. Sibelius 5th Symphony on a long playing record – a thunderstorm came up while it was playing – a fine effect. Interesting discussions.
