Tall trees standing motionless with flat green shadows -, there is a film over the sun, and the air takes on a hazy brassy appearance –
The call of a woodpecker – a fly buzzes –
It is eternity – the old romantic power of primitive sunlight – , there are endless valleys of sun-topped trees – scent of milkweed.

The afternoon – The air becomes more stagnant – the ground hot – the sky turns to a sultry violet; hasty clouds – the day dies endlessly –
