July 3 – Sun.
PM. – Rev. & Mrs. Neeb took us to church in Williamsville to see a religious play given by young students of various Lutheran Colleges and Universities.
Evening – Visit from Dr. & Mrs. Arbesman and their two sons – Howard (16) & David (About 8) – a very enjoyable visit most of it in the studio, where I showed them pictures. Young David’s reactions interested me particularly – He went to the heart of a picture, by-passing things that bother adults. When I showed the Beechwoods with cardinal motifs he exclaimed “That’s beautiful” – then someone asked what the Red Orange motifs meant he said “I don’t care what they mean; it’s a beautiful color and you feel as if you were right in the woods.”
