The weather is sullen & baffled – hot, humid – a thunderstorm at dawn got nowhere – the sky is low and oppressive, rain fitful.
I would be like a thunderstorm – rush across the land bending trees in my fury, stabbing with swift lightning the things I hated, destroying savagely the things I loved.
Charles E. Burchfield, June 25, 1929
