It seems to me that I have entered upon a new period in my life—a new way of thinking about life, the universe, and even about God—and with it the inability to get back to earlier periods. I can see a barefoot boy coming up the painter road on a hot summer afternoon, or a young man walking along a road at night in the rain; and a young father striding along elatedly under May trees; but I can’t feel like them.
