a.m. to harbor. A little [unintelligible]; and dreamy misty sky with half-sunlight. The light effects + “feeling” were perfect for my picture + I made many studies staying until past 2:00.
At Michigan + Seneca I saw Bill _____? from Gardenville, who was glad for a lift. When we got to our village, he wanted first to buy me a cigar, then a drink of beer, which I accepted.
Before going to the harbor I had stopped and bought some pink + yellow moccasin flowers from two Indian women. After lunch , I planted them in the yard, two under the pine trees, the rest with the bleeding hearts. A strong cool wind was blowing out of the southeast, a few drops of rain falling, and all at once everything was full of mystery and romance, and goodness.
