A.M. to Buffalo — Look at frames at Br’s [Bredemeier’s] – Downtown doing shopping for various things – to lunch with Schwanekampf [sic] & his co-workers — S- proposes a sketching trip next Saturday.
After lunch to pet store on Genesee to buy dog. Select a cross between Irish & Fox terriers, because of his bright mischievous face. Just as about to look at him stages a terrific battle with his female companion. Buy food supplies & home. Dog in box, I hold his snout in my hand so he won’t be frightened —
The delight of the children beyond description. Dog christened Skippy.
Saturday, May 14, 1932 –
Unable to sleep for most of night – A day of puttering around yard – Frank [Lankes?] builds dog house — B. & Sally to Buffalo. Late afternoon make small study for new oil.
