Part of the concert will focus on Alexander Scriabin and Maurice Ravel. Pianist Dmitri Novgorodsky, a graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, is performing Scriabin’s Sonata No. 2, Opus 19, known as the "Sonata-Fantasy." Violinist David Colwell, who is on the faculty of the SUNY College at Fredonia School of Music, is joining him for Ravel’s "Tzigane." The duo recently performed at the Deia International Music Festival in Spain and the Palau March Summer Concert Series in Palma de Mallorca.
Soprano Tiffany DuMouchelle will be joined by electronic musician Paul Hembree in “Hildegard’s Dream” a treatment of the writings of by St. Hildegard von Bingen, the medieval visionary composer and poet. Hembree will also partner with percussionist Steve Solook for "Justice: The Songs" by Roger Reynolds, a work based on ancient Greek tragedy.
