One of the loveliest spring days I remember of ever having experienced. Sunny and warm; the whole earth & sky ravishingly beautiful –
A chipping sparrow (recalling the sadness of the spring of 1911) –
The first wren –
Orioles at dawn –
One hepatica bloom left –
In studio – worked on the Albany (Ohio) house with great pleasure –
Mowed the lawn a little.
At noon Mart gives us the news that Sally & Red were coming down this afternoon to arrive late tonight – (leaving the boys with a baby-sitter) – I had already gotten one chicken for our dinner, & B said it would do for all – It will help to make the day a little gayer, (none of the absentee children sent anything by mail & B was feeling a little blue) –
P.M. had to give B the drawing – it brought tears to her eyes.
Evening food shopping & to Orchard Park for a snack. Afterwards more lawn-mowing –
