A.M. – To Gates Mills sketching – A cold lowering day – on car pattern of trees against grey sky – arrival – yellow birds – fine cold wind – blue & purple agate hills – The Big Hollow full of bright [Yellow Gold]  trees & black pines – trilliums. Clouds commence to break – Homeward in a sunlit earth yet I was in gloom – I had come away from a wonderful place with no adequate sketch –

Violet fields, - dandelions yellowing the emerald fields cause me to gasp –
