My name is Mengyan Tang, a student at Buffalo State. I had an internship at Burchfield Penney art Center from November 2016 to April 2017.
I came from China, and I am an international student here. Because my major is Art, I was looking for a museum to intern. The first time I met Heather, she gave me a little interview. She was so kindly just like a friend. The museum is awesome, people are quiet and friendly here.
We often have some events and exhibitions in the museum. A lot of people come and enjoy the art works. Because the museum is not big, people who work here did everything they can do during the events. I checked the paintings, spackled walls, guided guests. I learnt a lot.
Heather usually encourages us, “Good job!” “Nice work!” she always say that. Even sometimes people did not work so well, she still smiles and thumbs up. Encouragement is a powerful weapon to let people work harder and better.
Nice people, quiet environment, beautiful arts, I enjoyed the half year here. The life is simple and relaxing. It was a good experience. And I hope Burchfield Penney Center be better and better.
Mengyan Tang recieved her Bachelors of Arts in Fine Arts from Buffalo State College in 2016. She is focusing on design as she continues her career.
