71 today —
Most of day in studio working on a sketch made in 1951 on the Becker Rd near Collins Center. (Pussywillows by a stream) —
Shortly after noon a special delivery package from the Ferrises — Two paper weights, one large and flat with pressed plants and a butterfly embedded in the bottom, very beautiful, the other a comic owl of sandblasted glass, made in Sweden, Letters from the children. (Art talking of a school dance coming up for which somehow he has to provide a “monkey suit” and a corsage — He said he had “two girls lined up” to ask — Andy wrote of his dreams to become a boxer (which Sally threw cold water on — ‘Steve wants a career in the army —‘)
Early P.M. — M.A. calls to wish me a Happy Birthday & to chat with both of us.
Evening — All the Richters & B & I to Lakeview Restaurant for a Smorgasbord supper — very enjoyable, altho we all agreed we had eaten too much — Stopped in at R’s afterward to visit awhile.
