April 9 – Thursday –
71 Today –
Most of day in studio working on a sketch made in 1951 on the Baker Rd. near Collins Center, (pussy willows by a stream) –
Shortly after noon a special delivery package from the Ferrises – Two paperweights, one large and flat with pressed plants and a butterfly imbedded in the bottom, very beautiful, the other a comic oval of sandblasted glass, made in Sweden. Letters from the children. (Art talking of a school dance coming up for which he somehow has to provide a “monkey suit” and a corsage – He said he had “two girls lined up” to ask – Andy wrote of his dreams to become a boxer (which Sally threw cold water on – Steve wants a career in the army-)
Early P.M. – M.A. [Mary Alice] calls to wish me a Happy Birthday + chat with both of us.
Evening – All the Richters + B+I to Lakeview Restaurant for a Smorgasbord supper – very enjoyable, altho we all agreed we had eaten too much – Stopped at R’s afterward to visit awhile.
