Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), Late Winter Radiance, 1961-62; watercolor on paper, 44 x 26 1/2 inches; The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio, Museum Purchase, 1962
Still the same indifferent weather – the air raw and damp –
A.M. – Decided to send the “Late Winter Radiance” to the B.S.A. + Patteran show at the gallery – Put it in a frame and sealed it.
P.M. – Sprayed and scrubbed out a portion of the “Retreat of Winter”, the part at the Black Hollow – which has to be entirely repainted –
Evening – Bertha ‘dug out’ some photos to be sent to Nordners – Too bad I am not more photogenic!
Evening – Sinfonia Concertantes by Mozart + Haydn – In this case, Haydn comes off best.
