This morning I thought the robins outdoors had gone mad; for a long time they sang or sent their shrill cries thru the air; it certainly made me mad with delight to hear them. In vain did song-sparrow with his mate and a redbird attempt to drown them out the result was confused melody of notes in harmony with the soft grey skies. As the day wore on, the clouds increased, and occasionally light showers of rain fell and evening the air became colder and fresher.
In the afternoon, I went over to Bill’s, and as Joe had to make a sign and couldn’t go, I persuaded Bill to come back with, so Louise could play. We had played several games of “500” when King came in, and we played Pedro. In the second game we got hilarious and cheated, threw up hands and had fun in general. At supper time, the fellows left, altho we had invited them to stay to supper.
