February 26 – Tuesday –
Up early (7:30) -2° - sun brilliant – a cardinal in the top of the willow tree, facing the sun, singing continuously –
In studio – finished work on the cave + willow transition –
Feeling virtuous at the accomplishment of this, I suggested to Bertha we go to lunch at H’s then go out to the Grander Theater where “To Kill a Mockingbird” was being shown.
A beautifully done picture – it seemed perfect in very – photography, characterizations, very unusual – we feel we must go again –
Called up John [Clancy] to make some inquiries about some early wc’s [watercolors] – (as to their whereabouts) –
A little later a call from J.G. –
In the mail a note from Dr. N – about Friday night dinner – He said they were also having a “doctor friend” and his wife (who is a landscape architect) and hoped we would not “mind” (so sensitive they to the feelings of others) – naturally we did not “mind”
