Feb. 25 – Thurs.
A.M. odd jobs in the studio –
P.M. – To Buffalo – To gallery [Albright Knox Art Gallery] to talk to Schenck[i] and reassure myself of the actuality of the sale of “Sun and Rocks” (which has not yet been paid for). That has gone thru. We talked of other things – He has a Vlaminck [Maurice de Vlaminck] “Fauve” landscape, and a ? (German Expressionist of the school of Munch). The Vlaminck seemed to me undistinguished; but the German picture very good in all aspects. We discussed also the recent fiascos of trying to buy the Van Gogh [Vincent] and de Champagne [Phillippe].
As I was passing thru the outer office, Miss Bissell introduced me to Mrs. Oppenheimer who said she and her husband want to pay a visit to the studio – They wish to buy a “Burchfield” –
On my return home, a s.p. from Earl Seigfred – They plan to drive up Monday + be with us Tuesday.
We decided to give our concert tickets to Mart + Hank.
