Feb. 19 – Friday –
The first real “maple-sup” day – a light freeze in the night – The sky a deep blue, a tang to the air. It is wonderfully thrilling – and I chafe at debility [word unintelligible] to the cold.
Evening to Mart’s (Hank out helping battle the flooded conditions at Seneca + Ridge Rds.)
Children getting ready for bed. Tommy, naked, ran out of the bathroom and up to his room + I wondered if he was already feeling a shyness at being un-clothed, but a moment later he called down that he wanted someone to come up and help him dress. So I went up – all he wanted was company as he was well able to get into his things. We had brought some picture cards for them + they were soon busy dividing them. Mart brought Davy down + I held him a while. He laughed and crawled and was lovable in every way. Peggy is less demonstrative now, but sweet. At about 10:00 Art called from home (we had given him up.) So we went home + had coffee with him.
