Brilliant sunlight—a stiff S.W. cold (+6˚): a combination that seems only to belong to late February—the sound of a February wind; as in the Til Eulenspiegel legend of Winter & Lucifer, the nearer it gets to Spring, the more Winter blows at the heart of the earth to freeze it—but all it accomplishes is to stir the sap of the trees, and the blood of men. As I came out of the studio at 4:00, the blast of air that struck me in the face felt so delightful and invigorating that all I could think was “How good it is to be alive, and experience Winter!”
