Feb. 11 (Wed.)
Letter from Sally – all is ok with them. By it we learned to our dismay that we had forgotten Red’s
birthday (Feb. 1).
Afternoon – mild “softening” of the weather – When the thermometer showed 38 I decided to make an outdoor painting. The view from between ours + Albarella’s garage – Our thermometer must read a few degrees too high for soon my paint began to freeze. So I set up the oil stove again. Then a fine snow commenced to fall, and I countered with the big umbrella – all afternoon.
Evening B,M, H, + I [Bertha, Martha, Hank] to first week Lenten service. A nice snow falling. Afterwards Rev. Neeb had us examine more closely the alter cloths (purple for lent).
