Feb. 10 – (Sunday)
B[ertha] & A[rthur] & I to church –
P.M. Concert –. Suite by Corelli, 1st Piano Concerto of Brahms, and Show Boar arrangement by Jerome Kern. It is a mistake to include a piece like the latter on such a program. There is nothing of snobbery in this; popular pieces meant to be sun in a light opera, then are fine, but not on a concert of serious music.
Late P.M. The Blairs out — (Bob & his wife [Jeanette] & little girl [Jeanne]).
Evening – We wait for Cathie to come on the 8:00 bus, but when she failed to show up, B & A & I went to the Strand “Radio Stars on Parade” (very amusing), and “Cornered” (with Dick Powell) – a very tense melodrama of revenge on a German gestapo leader.
