Buffalo State University provides Burchfield Penney parking in the lot directly in front of the Art Center (Lot R-3). It is FREE on the weekend.

Please note that the parking rate will increase to $2 per hour effective August 19, 2024, with a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 3 hours. The pay station accepts only coins or Visa / MasterCard. Free parking and free Level 2 charging stations for are available for alternative fuel vehicles.

The Art Center cannot waive or assist you with a parking violation. Please contact the Buffalo State University Parking Services office at 716-878-3041.

Motor coaches and school buses may park at the rear of the Burchfield Penney lot. Pre-arrangements must be made. For information on group and school tours, call (716) 878-3156.

Accessibility

The Burchfield Penney Art Center is committed to making its exhibitions and events open to all, and is committed to the letter and intent of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Visitors needing to request accommodation under ADA should call 716-878-6011, or email burchfld@buffalostate.edu.

The Burchfield’s Auditorium has a loop system (T-coil) for loop-enabled hearing aids. Please let a staff member know if you would like to use the system.

Visitor Guidelines

We ask that all guests follow these simple guidelines in order to protect the artwork and respect other visitors. 

• Masks are optional, but encouraged. 
• Strollers are welcome in our galleries. 
• Food, drink, and chewing gum are not permitted in the galleries.
• Photography is permitted, without a flash or tripod. Photography is exhibition-specific, and permission may change without notice.
• Drawing and writing, with pencil only, are permitted in the galleries. Pencils are available at Visitor Services.
• Even the slightest touch can damage artwork. Please view works from a safe distance and help your children understand they should look with their eyes, but not touch.
• For the convenience of our guests, there are lockers available at the museum entrance. The lockers require a refundable quarter and are available during hours of operation. All large bags (over 13" x 17"), backpacks, tripods and umbrellas should be placed in a locker prior to entering the galleries.

Free Admission 

Admission is free for Burchfield Penney members; Buffalo State University Students, Faculty & Staff; United States and Canada Active Military and their families; United States Military Veterans.

Admission for group tours is $10 per person.

M&T Second Fridays

Emergency Closings

The Burchfield Penney Art Center is located on the Buffalo State University campus and follows the college in the event of an emergency closing. To find out if the museum has closed due to an emergency situation, please check the college website or:
