A.J. Fries: The End

A.J. Fries: The End, on view for one weekend only at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, features three of A.J. Fries’s Twinkie paintings. Crush from 2001 is in the collection of the Burchfield Penney Art Center. Twinkies, 2011and The End, 2011 are on loan from private collections.

On November 21^st 2012 Hostess Brands Inc., announced that a U.S. Bankruptcy Court had approved a motion for the orderly wind down of its business and sale of its assets. There would be no more Hostess and there would be no more Twinkies. On December 21^st 2012, some say the world will end.  According to the Mayan long count calendar a cycle of 5,125 years will end on that day. The short exhibition A.J. Fries: The End commemorates these two events, and the changing world we live in.
