Continuing the overlap of how water, water media and media art play together, the work of Brian Milbrand will be integrated the Center’s exhibition program. Milbrand creates works that he refers to as Melts. Through a process of time-lapse video he documents how pigment laden ice melts into the creation of a watercolor. For presentation, he projects the resulting video on to the surface of the watercolor. The result is an active surface that is both the end result of a painting and the tale of the process. Not a didactic presentation on how a painting is made, the viewer questions the relationship between moving and static imagery.
